General dentistry

A general appointment covers an examination, a clean, and any small repairs that are needed. This is where new patients start, and for most people it is the only appointment they need.

What happens

  1. A conversation first

We ask what has brought you in, what you have noticed, and whether anything has been uncomfortable. If you have had a difficult time at a dentist before, tell us at this point.

  2. An examination

A visual examination of your teeth, gums and soft tissues. We explain what we are looking at as we go.

  3. X-rays, if they are needed

Not every visit needs imaging. When it does, we tell you what we are looking for, and you can decline.

  4. A written plan

If we find something, you get a summary of the options, what each one involves and what each one costs, before anything is booked.

What this covers

  • Examination and oral health assessment
  • Scale and clean
  • Fluoride application
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Mouthguards for sport and for grinding

Things worth knowing

  • A check-up and clean usually takes 45 minutes. If you would like longer, ask when you book and we will schedule it.
  • Fees depend on what is needed. You get a quote before treatment starts.

Requesting an appointment takes about a minute, and you can say on the form that this is what it is about.
